Fiber crew is facing challenges as the site is near railway track and the work gets affected due to passing trains. Soil is also muddy and caves in while digging. They now estimate splicing to begin in about 5 hours

The optical network between Winnipeg and Portage la Prairie, MB is experiencing an outage. The reason is unknown, a fiber cut is suspected. The carrier provider has been contacted to investigate.

All the network traffic is being rerouted automatically, network service interruption is not expected.
